Erma Albert

Erma Albert, 79 years young of Buffalo, SD went to be with her Heavenly Father June 22, 2026 in Spearfish, SD.
She was born Jan 3, 1947 in Munich, Germany to Verlon Ray Thompson & Antonina Plaszji Thompson, arriving in New York City July 10, 1947 and raised in Bridgeport, TX with her father’s family.
Erma graduated Bridgeport High 1966, then received a 2 year business degree in Wichita Falls, TX. This is where she met Dick Albert who she united in marriage June 21, 1969. They had 2 children Heather and Dickie.
She traveled throughout the U.S. with Dick during his Air Force career and settled in Harding County, SD after his retirement. Erma worked various jobs most notably the commissary and Sky Ranch for Boys. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and chatting on the phone.
Erma is survived by her husband Dick; children Heather (Stan) Skikus, Dickie (Amber) Albert; grandchildren Drake (Jaden), Kayla, Victoria (Denzel); great grandchildren Gracelynn, Amariana, Naviana & Cruz; sisters Ruby & Lula.
Proceeded in death by her father Verlon, mother Antonina & sister Annie.
Honorary pallbearers: John Helms, Wally Stephens, Dickie Albert, Stan Skikus, Denzel Johnson, Richard Smith.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 10:00 am St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Belle Fourche with Father Lee officiating mass. Interment will follow 12:30pm at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
The family suggests memorial donations in memory of Erma to St. Anthony’s Parish, PO Box 85 Buffalo, SD 57720.
