Janis Gail was born to Paul and Mary Frances (Black) Taylor in Houston, Texas on August 9th, 1954. She was the third of four children. She attended all schooling in Baker, MT after her family moved in1957. She graduated from Baker High School in 1972. She attended beautician school and made many great friends in Billings, MT. Soon after, she moved to Powell, WY and dabbled in a nursing endeavor and worked as a bartender. Following this she met up with her family in Osage, WY and returned to Baker due to her father's illness. She remained in Baker until meeting and marrying Lanny Joe Anderson, of Scranton, ND, in 1975. To this marriage 6 children were born Justin & Jason (twins), Joshua, Jordan, and JaNae & JaNel (twins). Family was first and foremost in Janis's life. Much of her early adult life was spent on the Koziol farm with Joe and her children. A great deal of her time was spent traveling to any and all school activities for the kids, and summers at the lake with family and many friends. Many great lifelong friendships were formed from her time in the Birthday Club, local bowling leagues, several years as a cheerleading advisor, and many years as a bartender in multiple bars in and around Scranton. Following a separation with Joe, Janis was married to William Oxford. The two spent time in Scranton, Selby, SD, Driscoll, ND, and Abilene, TX before returning to Scranton in 2015. Janis was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012, underwent surgery and chemo and proudly was a cancer survivor! In 2021, following divorce, Janis and Joe rekindled their relationship and on July 5th, 2023 were remarried and lived happily together at the farm until her Lewey Body Dementia progressed to a point where more professional care was needed.
Loved ones left on Earth her 6 children and 13 grandchildren- Justin (Hailey & Ryder) of Scranton, ND; Jason & Devin (Chloe & Jaxon) of Scranton, ND; Josh & Jill (Hunter & Cate) of Lemmon, SD; Jordan & Amber (Trinity, Avaya, Ella, Jack & Asher) of Rhame, ND; JaNae & Matt (Bentley & Londynn) of Omaha, NE; JaNel & Shy of Scranton, ND, sisters Paulette Lee, and Cheryl Coles, both of North Richland Hills, TX and brother Mike & Amelia Taylor, San Leon, TX, her ex husband, plus many nieces and nephews and too many wonderful loving friends to count.
Preceding Janis in death were her husband Lanny Joe, parents Paul and Mary Frances Taylor; maternal and paternal grandparents; grandson Gabriel (Josh and Jill) Anderson; and nephew Jeffrey Hill.
